RYA AFFILIATED

Any member of a sailing club can do a good job of being Officer of the Day (OOD), provided they do a little homework and they are organised and systematic. Initially, they should read the sailing instructions well and make sure they understand them.-

We all hope 2008 will be a good year for sailing; certainly membership is continuing to grow. However, membership is one thing, regularly getting you down to the club and onto the water is another.
One thing you can look forward to that the weather can’t spoil is two great sailing shows namely the London Boat show and dinghy show. Both of these shows are at the beginning of the year and give you the time to dream and equip your self ready for the coming season.

Introduce yourself to the officer of the day (OOD) and to your fellow support boat crew member. Let the OOD know how experienced you are at operating a support boat and any training you may have had. The OOD has responsibility for ensuring safety cover is adequate.
